The incident, involving Akasa Air Flight Number QP 1781 (Boeing 737 Max 8), which departed from Mumbai at 8:40 AM on January 13, 2026, left travelers in a state of extreme fear and panic due to a severe technical glitch or adverse conditions during the approach to Ahmedabad.
Two Failed Landing Attempts Ignite Fear
Scheduled to land at Ahmedabad at 10:00 AM, the flight encountered critical issues during its initial landing approach. According to terrified passengers, the pilot aborted the first attempt when the aircraft was dangerously close to the runway, pulling it back into the air just before touchdown. A second attempt to land faced the same severe circumstances, forcing the pilot to abort again.
A passenger, recounting the harrowing experience with a trembling voice, stated, "At that moment, we felt the plane could crash at any time, and there was no way for us to survive. Everyone's breath stopped as the plane went back into the air twice after nearing the airport." This high-stakes drama also put the airport authorities on high alert.
Diversion to Jaipur for Safety
Following two unsuccessful landings in Ahmedabad, Air Traffic Control (ATC) and the flight crew decided not to take any further risks. For the safety of the passengers, the flight was immediately diverted to Jaipur Airport, where it eventually made a safe landing, bringing immense relief to the shaken passengers.
An investigation has reportedly been ordered by the airline to ascertain the exact cause of this technical malfunction or operational issue that led to such a critical situation.
