Gandhidham, Kutch: In a massive late-night operation, the Gandhidham Municipal Corporation has cleared widespread encroachments on Sevakunj Road near Ghoda Chowki in Adipur. Under heavy police protection, the administration removed a total of 20 illegal structures, including a mosque and various commercial units.
The operation, which began around 1:00 AM, successfully cleared approximately 2,000 square meters of land, with an estimated market value of ₹5 crores. This drive is part of the city's infrastructure plan to construct a modern road from Ghoda Chowki to Om Mandir.
Coordinated Late-Night Crackdown
The drive was executed under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Manish Guruvani and involved a large team including Deputy Commissioners, Engineering, Fire, and Health departments. The administration deployed heavy machinery, including 3 Hitachi machines, 4 JCBs, and 2 breakers, to carry out the demolition.
To ensure law and order, a strong police contingent led by DySP Mukesh Chaudhary and PI Mahesh Wala remained on-site. Following the removal of the religious structure, the team systematically demolished commercial encroachments that had been hindering road development.
Strict Compliance After Notice Period
Authorities stated that notices had been issued to the encroachers previously. While some had begun voluntary removal, the administration moved in with full force once the deadline expired. This follows a previous phase where a temple and a bird feeder (Chabutaro) were also removed to pave the way for the new road project.
With the land now cleared, the construction of the modern thoroughfare is expected to begin shortly, easing traffic and improving the aesthetic of the Adipur-Gandhidham area.
